Parental Attempts to De-escalate and Find a Path Forward

From the moment concerns arose, our priority as parents was not conflict, but resolution. At every stage, we sought to de-escalate, listen, and find a reasonable path forward that protected our daughter’s well-being and preserved her place in the school community she valued.

We asked for conversation, not consequences.

We requested clarity, not punishment.

We expressed a willingness to partner, to listen, and to accept reasonable accountability where appropriate.

We proposed constructive options, including restorative conversations, probationary measures, or temporary adjustments. We asked that our daughter be heard. We asked that safeguarding concerns be reviewed. We offered relevant context and evidence so decisions could be informed rather than assumed.

Those requests were declined.

Rather than engaging in restorative dialogue, the school’s posture shifted toward justification of a predetermined outcome. Communications that were intended to reduce tension, clarify misunderstandings, or propose solutions were later reframed as evidence against us.

Information disclosed transparently and in good faith — in some cases after the enrollment decision had already been communicated — was retroactively cited to support removal.

Throughout this process, no effort was made to:

  • Speak directly with our daughter
  • Review offered evidence related to safeguarding concerns
  • Explore restorative or transitional options
  • Identify any specific misconduct or policy violation by our daughter

When we respectfully requested Board-level review — given the seriousness of the concerns and the irreversible impact on a minor who had not been accused of wrongdoing — the request was declined. The Board stated that it does not involve itself in individual student matters.

At every stage, our intent was to reduce harm and preserve dignity. We were not seeking special treatment. We were seeking fair treatment. We were not asking for rules to be ignored. We were asking for proportionality, transparency, and care.

Our daughter did nothing wrong. We attempted to resolve this quietly and constructively. When every effort to de-escalate was met with dismissal, reframing, or silence, transparency became the only remaining path.

To date, we have not been provided with any written policy that our daughter — or our family — violated.
